The St. Lucia Racer 🐍✨🤎

Here is a short description of the world’s most endangered snake. I present to you, the St. Lucia Racer or Erythrolamprus ornatus.

Did you know there are fewer than 20 to 100 St. Lucia Racers left? The St. Lucia Racer is considered the world’s rarest snake and is highly endangered. It is completely non-venomous. Consequently, harmless to humans. Their diet consists of eggs, lizards, and other small animals. Their significant population decrease is credited to the invasive Indian Mongoose. In 1936, they were declared extinct! In 1973, they were miraculously rediscovered. Maria Major, an island found off the coast of St. Lucia, is where their name originates. They are only found on this island because it does not have any threats to the species.
