In January, I will be testing for my first degree black belt! As part of this honorary process, we are supposed to define kindness and compassion. Here is a short poem I wrote about those morals.
Kind and compassionate, what we try to be,
patience, kindness, integrity.
Through patience we wait, calming our mind,
maintaining composure, taking our time.
Waiting our turn, no matter the place,
Through patience we learn to resist the bargain.
Now we move on to kindness, the golden rule!
Do what is kind, not what is cool.
Treat others the way you want to be treat,
be nice to your classmates, no need to compete.
Now let’s discuss integrity.
Do what is right, despite no penalty.
Only you can decide what is wrong and what’s right,
even if there’s no clear option in sight.
How could we forget responsibility!
Do your work with civility.
Take account for your actions, finish your work,
of course to satisfaction, and help out with chores.
To conclude this prelude of the person I will be,
whether it’s a black belt, or a white belt, I shall maintain morality.
